About me
kathy butcher
Registered Music Therapist and the sole practitioner of Play Sing Music Therapy which has been operating since 1999 (formerly Heart Sounds Music Therapy).
I began my career as a professional musician in 1986 as the first female member of The Royal Australian Air Force Band based in Richmond NSW playing Flute and Piccolo. I have also taught flute, piano and guitar and been involved in musicals, community bands and performance for many years.
I completed my Master of Arts in Music Therapy in 1998 and am a Registered Music therapist with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). www.austmta.org.au
I served on the Executive team of the Board of the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA), administrating and supporting the careers and membership of over 800 registered music therapists.
I have presented at AMTA conferences and the World Congress of Music Therapy in Brisbane, 2005.
My husband and I also run a locally owned and independent Audiology clinic in Grafton, Accent Hearing. Accent Hearing sponsors the very successful, Clarence Valley Orchestra which plays each year at Jacaranda festival time in Grafton NSW. Greg is the musical director and I play Flute and Piccolo.
I am very passionate about the effects music and committed to help children through specialised programs for long lasting change.
